Hi Oliver,
Parallax is the apparent 2D relative motion of a
distant object with respect to a close one
as you move your viewpoint. This occurs even
with monocular vision.
Disparity is the relative 2D displacement of the
image of the same point in space when projected
on two different focal planes (ie. two different
eyes). I assume that calculating retinal disparity would
require extensive knowledge of the optical geometry
of the eye.
