here are some questions on the stereo vision terminology:
- is parallax = disparity (how do you compute retinal disparity)?
- with resp. to disparity: what is positve/negative parallax (what's the
relation between parallax and disparity)?

This occurs even with monocular vision. Disparity is the relative 2D displacement of the image of the same point in space when projected on two different focal planes (ie. two different eyes). I assume that calculating retinal disparity would require extensive knowledge of the optical geometry of the eye.
