Dear AR Toolkit group,
A while ago I visited with Mark Billinghurst at the U.W. HIT lab and
got a chance to try out the U.W. AR technology. I was very impressed,
not only with the technology, but with how inexpensive the hardware is
that's required to run it. I talked with Mark that day about how the
low cost of equipment required to do software research could make it
possible to create an organization for research that was neither industrial
nor academic, and that I was working on forming such an organization.
He suggested that I use this mailing list to see if anyone on it might
be interested in participating.
I won't go into detail here, but the advantages of this approach are
high control over your research, minimal politics, and fewer funding
concerns; the main disadvantage is that you would need to spend part
of your time working on technology that is not related to your research.
To learn more about my plans, please visit the following web site:

I am especially interested in hearing from people in the Seattle, Washington,
USA area.
Thanks,
Peter Gruenbaum
