Here's another job announcement for the same project - this time for those
that have completed their PhDs.
Mark
The Human Interface Technology Lab (NZ) at the University of Canterbury in
New Zealand has funding available to support a post-doctoral researcher
from 2002-2006. This funding is for conducting research on the HIT Lab's
MagicBook project.
The MagicBook is an innovative interface that uses Augmented Reality (AR)
technology to seamless move users between real and virtual worlds. AR
interfaces overlay computer graphics on the real world, so users can see
virtual images at the same time as the surrounding real environment.
Unlike other AR interfaces, the MagicBook allows users to experience AR
and fully immersive Virtual Reality (VR). It is one of the first
interfaces of its type and offers the potential to work at the leading
edge of AR interface work. More information about the MagicBook project
can be found at http://www.hitl.washington.edu/magicbook/
The post doctoral research should have completed (or be near to
completion) at PhD degree in the fields of Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent and have experience in
some of the following areas:
Virtual Reality
Augmented Reality
Interactive computer graphics (OpenGL)
Image processing
Software optimisation
C/C++ programming
Interface development
Speech recognition
Design of interface hardware
Human Factors Experimental Design
The post-doctoral researcher will work with a research team consisting of
three PhD students and four faculty members. In addition, they will have
the opportunity to work with leading international visiting researchers,
present their work at national and international conferences, and spend
time at the sister HIT Lab at the University of Washington in Seattle,
USA.
Those who are interested should contact Mark Billinghurst, the HIT Lab
(New Zealand) Director, at mark.billinghurst@h ........... for complete job
details.
