Dear Rainer Blum:
i'm also a beginner, but fortunately i could learn from Hirokazu Kato
during my three days stay at Hiroshima this summer. Here is a memo of
installation. i hope this might be useful to another beginner. i am
writing an extended version of "poor man's installation".
Let's start with steps:
(0) Linux with video4linux and video capture working
i assume that video capture is working with video4linux on Linux.
Or IEEE1394 and DV camera shoule be fine (i have not tried).
(1) GLUT library
you need to install GLUT library. GLUT is OpenGL Utility Toolkit.
what you actually need is something like
/usr/X11R6/lib/libglut.so.3.7
/usr/X11R6/lib/libglut.a
it may be easiest to install via rpm.
(2) Fetch them:
o ARToolKit 2.64 or later
o OpenVRML 0.11.2
o VRML4ATK 2.11
http://www.sys.im.hiroshima-cu.ac.jp/people/kato/etc/ARToolKit2.64.tar.gz
http://www.sys.im.hiroshima-cu.ac.jp/people/kato/etc/VRML4ATK2.11.tar.gz
http://www.sys.im.hiroshima-cu.ac.jp/people/kato/etc/OpenVrml-diff.txt
http://openvrml.sourceforge.net/
(2a) install ARToolKit
Configure and make, that's it, but
faq1: window appears but blank?
see AR/config.h, try and change 'DEFAULT_VIDEO_CHANNEL'.
faq2: "GLUT: Fatal Error ind (unamed): Visual with necessary
capabilities not found."
depth value in '/etc/X11/XF86config-4' should be 24.
(2b) patch sources according to OpenVrml-diff.txt , install openvrml.
(2c) VRML4ATK2.11
edit and make:
SRC/libAR/Makefile
Example/Src/ex1/Makefile-v4l
does this make sense?
