"Unstable" tracking data

Hello,

when watching the black and white debug window of ARToolKit
I notice a lot of dithering even if my camera delivers a freeze image.
What is the reason for this? May this be due to the interlaced video
I'm using? How can I avoid this effect?
I worry, that this leads to "unstable" tracking data that makes my
VRML models shiver.

I'm working with ATK 2.61 on Linux, V4L and a camcorder.

Any hints are appreciated.
