Hi AR users,
This is a note of the availability an ARToolKit release. This version
is numbered 2.70.
The release and the full read me is available at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/artoolkit/
under "File Releases"
There are a variety of changes since the last release 2.69. Notable changes:
* VRML renderer for ARToolKit, libARvrml, with unified code base
across Windows, Linux, Mac OS X. Updated simpleVRML usage example.
* A variety of extra examples demonstrating basic usage and
interaction techniques.
* A new example twoView, demonstrating input, processing and output
from two (or more) cameras.
* VideoLinuxV4L patch by Uwe Woessner for YUV support (at last!)
and patches by Raphael Grasset for improved camera parameter control
and compressed jpeg video stream to support the Sony Eyetoy camera.
* VideoLinux1394Cam patch by Wayne Piekarski for improved lib1394
support, including multiple lib1394 versions.
* Preliminary API documentation by Raphael Grasset.
ARToolKit is distributed as a multiple source archive. There are
additional source + binary packages for ARToolKit dependencies on the
Windows platforms. These include the video input library, DSVideoLib,
and OpenVRML. Dependencies for the Unix-based platforms (Linux, Mac
OS X, Irix) are handled by package managers on these systems (e.g.
Fink on Mac OS X, Debian and/or RPM on Linux).
As bugs come up, please post in the SourceForge bug tracker. This
will be the preferred forum for bug reports in future. Patch
submissions are also welcomed.
The source for this release is now also in the Sourceforge ARToolKit
CVS repository, and may be checked out using anonymous CVS. A
tutorial on how to get the source using a CVS GUI tool is at
http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=25731&group_id=116280.
There are still more additions and enhancements for ARToolKit in the
works here at the HIT Lab NZ, including complete documentation.
Thanks to all the contributors to this release.
Regards,
