Hi Luca,
you can have a look at my modified ARToolkit version. It comes with
precompiled binaries for Windows.
It's main modifications are in the old ARFrameGrabber class (DSVideoLib
never worked for me) which is much more flexible now (enhanced init
functions, x/y flipping, scale & upload GL texture).
The are two new projects in the workspace that show how to use ARToolKit
with G3D (www.graphics3d.com) and SDL (libsdl.org). One of the programs
opens all found capture devices and
displays their footage on a OpenGL polygon.
I have also added some documentation to the calib* programs which should
help you getting usable results quickly.
If those programs crash at your place, it might be that you have
unsupported video-capture hardware.
Look at the text-console when you start the programs and find the line
"ARFrameGrabber: list of dound devices".
If it lists just one device and thats the one you are using in your
program as well, you might be fine. If it lists more than
one device you might run into trouble if some of those are analog
capture cards. The easy ARToolKit examples
usually just pick the first found device. If this is an unsupported
device, the program exits ungracefully.
You could then modify the supplied sourcecode so that it inits your
camera by name.
