we've used a very similar setup! We had two webcams and sent
the augmented images to a HMD. We tracked both images
"independently" and the stereo effect was quite good. The
only annoyance was when on source lost the tracking, that
led to some flickering (for just one eye the tracked objects
was visible). Anyhow, knowing the interocular distance etc it
should be easy to use just one source for the tracking....
There would also be a performance advantage as long as you
track only in one image.
