- Architecting and developing an earth sciences visualization pipeline consisting of six components
(data acquisition, metadata encoding, datastream transport, visualization pipeline, desktop exploration
products, advanced classroom exploratory interfaces). Skills: XML database, XML application, dynanic Web server
services, IRIS Explorer modularization, graphics engine, and advanced hardware.
- Applying 3-D visualization and interactivity skills to Ocean Science Datasets (and Earth Science Datasets).
- Enhancing soil and vegetation hydrology model to provide a Web interface that allows model set up and runs from any Internet
connected client. HTML forms to Java Server Pages to Postgres relational database and database to C to model run and output generation.

technologies. Majority of time involved with teaching, writing technical books and consulting on
connecting virtual worlds to relational databases. Specifically:

Project work at the Human Interface Technologies Laboratory in Seattle, WA where I created a web
site for the Teacher Pathfinder organization in Redondo, CA, created a virtual world for
interactively demonstrating three dimensional data for HRB of State College, PA, and built a
demonstration world for 3D, interactive, consumer product prototyping on the internet.
- Teaching with Catapult Training Centers and Seattle Central Community College where I teach
corporate customers traditional office productivity tools as well as operating systems,
HTML, Dynamic HTML, VRML, and graphics arts software.

Completed a five year, well recognized information systems management development program comprised of five rotations in four separate divisions of the company. Variety of assignments required the use of the full range of skills of an information science professional. Responsibilities ranged from direct business process consulting in 24 field offices of the Commercial Lines division to programming and product management in the technical core of the company. Specifically:

1995: Developed a Distributed Database Application for 160 desktops in 6 Commercial Lines' Service Centers. Project leader working closely with team of three and specialists from around the company. Application consisted of a Powerbuilder front-end, Lotus Notes work request forms, DB2/2 database, and REXX batch routines for stripping the data from the forms and loading the database. Managed the WAN usage of the application from home office to all six locations in the field. Application tracked work requests from marketing through the service centers responsible for producing large commercial insurance policies to be sent to customers. Assisted with determining monthly production report needs and delivering user-friendly on-line reports. Delivered project on time and under budget. Continued consulting on Lotus Notes application development for previous contacts from last two assignments.

1994: Business Process Consulting for new OS/2 workstation with 18 field offices in Commercial Lines. Determined additional uses for 486-based PC in meeting information and business process needs. Trained in the use of office suite software, insurance modeling software, and Lotus Notes and discussed future use for on-line information needs while becoming familiar with the large Commercial Lines insurance business. Assisted with equipment installation roll-out in 5 offices which involved LAN analysis, server set-up, and workstation set-up. Trained 14 field office managers in the use of Lotus Notes. Continued developing Lotus Notes applications and performing walk-throughs for others in the company.

1993: Lotus Notes Product Manager for Core Technical Area. Responsible for administering and assisting with application development for 1400 licenses throughout the company. Responsible for beta testing and conversion to Release 3.0 from R2.0. Worked with vendors to determine appropriate 3rd party applications to assist with Notes development and administration. Became primary contact for GSHNUG, the Greater Springfield/Hartford Notes User Group. Spent 70% of my time developing applications, demonstrating Lotus Notes to interested business areas, and handling Level 2 and 3 hotline questions. Helped many areas in determining costs and time requirements for proposed Notes projects.

1992: Programmer for Sales Illustrations within Financial Services Division. Worked with a team of six programmers responsible for creating Microsoft C 6.0-based applications to illustrate 14 different personal insurance products. Performed maintenance on existing BASIC illustrations, converting some to C. Delivered applications to over 2000 independent insurers on-time in a rigorous development environment. Worked with marketing department to develop specifications. Studied outside of work hours to learn the personal health, life and annuities insurance business.

1991: COBOL and Job Control programming for accounting and billing system for Fortune 1000 customers in Managed Care division. Performed maintenance on large legacy system created in 1968. Put out fires from the evening batch cycle through on-call responsibilities. Billing data was housed in large, IMS databases.
