John Burnette Research Associate | |

John holds a Bachelor and Masters of Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. He is currently working towards a Ph.D. with an emphasis on embedded systems and digital signal processing. John originally joined the HIT Lab in January 2004 to work with Professor Furness. He was drawn to the lab's wonderfully diverse and interdisciplinary work environment that allowed him to be creative and work on a variety of projects and with inspirational leaders. After completing his Bachelors degree and prior to joining grad school John worked for a wireless device design house writing embedded and manufacturing test software. John's career goals include developing technologies that he can help evolve into patents and eventually companies. He feels that since the lab has shown great success spinning-off new companies it made sense for him to be part of this environment and learn from others. His principle research interest right now is ultra-wideband radio and its applications in tracking, radar, and communication. He has a strong interest in working with early stage startup companies. Aside his work in the lab, John enjoys spending time with his wife Emily and playing soccer. Eating at Red Robin is also one of his favorite pastimes. |
