Professor Don Parker holds a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Princeton University. He is Affiliate Professor both at the HIT Lab and the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington. Don also acts as Professor Emeritus for the Department of Psychology at Miami University, Ohio.
Don has received numerous prestigious honors over the course of his career including the Space Act Award in 1993, election to membership in the International Academy of Astronautics in 1985 and selection as Alternate Payload Specialist for Spacelab SL-1 Mission in 1978.
Don's research interests focus on spatial orientation, simulator sickness and hearing. As Don likes to say: "I have spent my entire career trying to figure out which way is up".
In his free time Don keeps active through hiking and canoeing. He also has a tendency to "test" his students on the squash course.
