David Lotz has been involved in information technology throughout his career specializing in data/database administration and program management in both the private and public sectors. He has a JD in Law - intellectual property from the University of Baltimore, MS in Civil Engineering - information systems from the University of Washington and BA in Economics - econometrics from the University of Washington.

David first started working with the Lab in 2000 when he was the Chief Technology Officer of the Seattle Art Museum and commissioned the HIT lab to develop a virtual re-creation of an archeological dig in ancient Sichuan China. After his separation from SAM David re-joined the Lab as a volunteer and has been collaborating with the lab ever since. David is involved with the VirtuSphere and the HIT lab exhibit at the Boston Museum of Science.

David's research interests outside his role as program manager include Intellectual Property Management; Meta Modeling; Semantic Data Fusion; Spatial Analysis and Display; and Speech Recognition.

Outside his involvement with the Lab, David enjoys landscape painting and photography, table tennis, hiking and cross-country skiing.
