Rich likes to refer to himself as "Eric Seibel's lacky". Since he rejoined the Lab in 2003, Richard has largely contributed to the Scanning Fiber Endoscope project. He has an Electrical Engineering background with a Bachelor and Masters degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Prior to joining the lab Richard was involved with a number of startup companies.
