Following is the final agenda for the "Telepresence" conference 
being hosted by Linkoping University, in Linkoping, Sweden, on 
Oct. 24-25.  (Note: In Swedish, Linkoping's "o" has an umlaut --

PROGRAM FOR FIRST COST #229 WG.5 WORKSHOP

"TELEPRESENCE -- A NEW CONCEPT FOR TELECONFERENCING"

Linkoping, Sweden, October 24-25, 1991

	This workshop is held to highlight the technical and tele-
communication-related problems which occur when Telepresence 
(Display Helmet System) is used for teleconferencing.  This 
workshop will work as a forum to discuss these problems and to
disseminate information about current research and development of 
equipment in this area.

WELCOME TO LINKOPING AND THE WORKSHOP ON TELEPRESENCE
-- A NEW CONCEPT FOR TELECONFERENCING.

	Telepresence, as we see it, is the combination of 
telecommunication with the newly emerging area of "virtual 
reality."  The workshop focuses on this particular aspect.

	Invited speaker Robert Jacobson, from the Human Interface 
Technology Lab, will focus on the state of the art and current 
research.  There will be time for discussions to present open 
problems in different research topics.

	The workshop takes place in Linkoping.  Linkoping is a rela-
tively small town with a young and active university.  We have a 
tradition of high technology in industry and we now see many small 
high tech companies growing out of the university.  This makes 
Linkoping a very exciting place today.

	Late in October in Linkoping means that the season is changing 
from autumn to winter.  Although snow has not yet been falling, the 
weather can change fast from being clear but a bit chilly to rainy 
and windy.

	We look forward to meeting you here in October and wish you a 
pleasant time in Linkoping.
