Scanning the Retina

One of the unique features of the Virtual Retinal Display (VRD) is the ability to create an image directly on the retina.

This animation shows the VRD (right) projecting a laser beam carrying the video image through the pupil onto the retina (far left). The point of laser light is scanned horizontally and vertically very quickly, creating the image point-by-point onto the back of the eye.
