: Well, I have heard the rumors and everytime I go to get information,
: suddenly the serial interface doesn't exist. Would someone PLEASE
: give me some information concerning wether or not it exists and where
: the plans and software are if it does. Thanks in advance.

Well there is the "commercial" interface known as the PowerGlove
Serial Interface. This is made by the UIUC chapter of the ACM, and
cost around $175. Info available from ftp.acm.uiuc.edu.

What you probably mean though is what is known as the "Menelli" box,
which is similar in a lot of ways to the PGSI. I'm not sure exactly where
the info is, but last I checked, Chris Hand (should that be "Dr" by now
:-) was using one, so you could check his homepage:

http://www.cms.dmu.ac.uk/People/cph

and explore it a little bit and he probly has a link to it.

Hi.. sorry to bother you guys who are reading this.anyways
Im trying to get into pc-vr..
I've a powerglove and sega glasses.
I use linux. i found some powerglove software written for linux allready.
using the Menelli box. I've got plans on how to make the Menelli box. but
i've seen the pgsi box also has the sega shutter interface.
so before i order the parts to build the menelli box i figure i might
look into making the shutter glasses intereface with it. or maybe buying
the pgsi would be almost as much and save me the trouble.
So im looking for info/howto's/pointers to hooking up the sega glasses.
I can't seem to get on the powerglove mailing list either at the boxer
site. it seems to be shutdown. or something.. maybe you know if there is
a current mailing list for the powerglove and maybe there is one for the
sega shutter glasses too...

Thanks In Advance

 For all AOL members, Forte has it's own area now as an adjunct to the
VR Resource Center (although the links aren't set up quite yet). It
is at Keyword: FORTE. And, according to the papers I picked up at
VR95, they also have a Compuserve area at GO FORTE and an Internet
contact at support@fortech.com

Subject: INFO: How to start ?

  Hi All !

 I heard this a forum of people trying to find own way into Virtual Reality
if so I'd like to join the club.

 I am starting with VR and plan to make a low-cost 3D display + glove for PC.
Actually it's gonna be my diploma project - I study computer science in
Poland and HMDs are not available at my university yet (neither on the market)
:(.

 I planned to do it from the very beginning using VGA as pseudo 3D display
( synchronized with LC-Shutter glasses - I guess SEGA-glasses used such
approach right? ) with triple axis space location based on sound propagation
time mesurement.

 Please , if anyone did anything alike give me some opinions.

 Do you think I could get these LC-shutters somewhere ?

 I'd be also very happy to get some information concerning construction
(displaying and space locating components) , capabilities and programmer's
interface of folowing products :

* Mattel Glove
* VictorMaxx ( is it non-stereoscopic? )
* CyberMaxx
* VFX
* ...?

 I heard of some fine shareware - AVRIL where could I get it ?

 Thanx in advance,

 Bartek.

Hi

I have always been a fan of VR and Home VR is very exiting. I will
be going to COMDEX fall this year and would like to pickup a
Home VR set for my PC while I am there. But beeing from South Africa
I do not know how much somthing like this costs in the USA. Could
anyone give me an idea bout what is out there and what I can expect
to pay.

Thanx in advance

I search informations about eye tracking using video imaging. What company
produce this? What is the price? The precision is not very important(some
degree).
