Subject: FOR-SALE: Three 3D model CDROMs for $150, shipped!
Date: 8 Jun 1995 02:30:25 GMT
Organization: Syndesis Corporation

In a special online offer, you can get thousands of 3D models
stored on three CDROMs.

Get Syndesis 3D-ROM Volume I, Volume II and Syndesis Avalon
for just US $150, shipped anywhere in the world, a savings
of $100 from the retail price. This offer ends July 15.

Syndesis 3D-ROM Volume I

The "Syndesis 3D-ROM Volume I" contains more than 500 freely
distributable 3D models, with each model pre-translates to
AutoCAD DXF, 3D Studio, Wavefront, LightWave and Imagine formats.
It's also got more than 400 tileable, wrappable texture maps
in GIF, TIF and IFF-24 format.

3D-ROM Volume I includes 28 Viewpoint DataLabs demo models,
plus demo high-res humanoids from Imagination Works (as seen on
the cover of Computer Graphics World), office equipment models
from Noumenon Labs, household items from VRS Media, digitized models
from Mira Imaging, and animations demonstrating the first set of
IPAS routines for 3D Studio from the Yost Group.

Syndesis 3D-ROM Volume II

3D-ROM Volume II contains more than 200 new models, each
pre-translated to five formats like 3D-ROM Volume I. It also
includes the five Siggraph 93 demo models from Viewpoint DataLabs,
plus the demo version of trueSpace for Windows from Caligari,
plus a demo version of Visual Reality for Windows from Visual Software,
plus the demo version of RenderWare for Windows from Criterion Software Ltd.

Thumbnail catalog GIF images of all models on the 3D-ROMs are available
via ftp on avalon.vislab.navy.mil in the /pub/misc/3D-ROM directory.
The Syndesis 3D-ROMs are ISO-9660 discs, fully accessible from
MS-DOS, Macintosh, Amiga and Unix workstations. Each includes a
fully indexed, categorized and cross-referenced catalog of the
objects complete with thumbnail renderings. Each 3D-ROM is
normally $99.95.

Syndesis Avalon

We've made a CDROM snapshot of the Internet's most popular 3D repository.
The Syndesis Avalon disc contains the complete contents of the site
known as avalon.vislab.navy.mil as of July 1994. This archive contains
more than 1,200 models in various formats as well as documents, utilities
and source code. This ISO-9660 disc is readable on any computer, but is
also Rock Ridge compatible, meaning the original Unix filenames reappear
on Unix/Linux systems. Save yourself hours of downloading!
The Syndesis Avalon disc is normally $49.95.

How to get a free 3D-ROM

We give away hundreds of copies of each 3D-ROM to those people who
contribute models for the next edition of the disc. If you send us
one or more 3D models that we can include on the next 3D-ROM, and we
use your models on that disc, you get a free copy of that disc.
Ask us for a "submission form." The deadline for the Siggraph 95 disc
is June 30. If we use your model(s), you'll get a free copy of
Syndesis 3D-ROM Volume III in August!

Why do we do it?

The Syndesis 3D-ROMs are a demonstration of the 3D conversion
abilities of Syndesis's InterChange. InterChange translates between
more than thirty 3D file formats including AutoCAD DXF, 3D Studio,
Wavefront, LightWave, VRML, Inventor, Imagine, Swivel, Sculpt,
Sense8, trueSpace, BRender, RenderWare, RenderMorphics, Alias polyset,
Vista DEM and many others. Material and hierarchy information
is preserved. InterChange for Windows is $495.

We'd be glad to add you to our mailing list. Our catalog includes
more information about InterChange as well as thumbnail renderings
of all the models on the 3D-ROMs. Drop us an e-mail with your
postal (paper) address. Tell us which 3D programs you use and
which file formats you need to translate.

I am interested in getting some information on various types
of 3D mice. What the cost is, a listing, the specifications needed to
operate, etc...
Most importantly is the accuracy of the sensor for the mouse.
The sensor must be accurate enough to be able to pinpoint the mouse
within a few tenths of an inch. Oh, one other thing, it needs to be
wireless. Thanks for the help.
