From 6642@SBCHA0.SBRC.HAC.COM Mon Sep 26 13:41:05 1994 Date: Wed, 4 May 1994 16:49:10 -0700 From: Chung Shen <6642@SBCHA0.SBRC.HAC.COM> To: Multiple recipients of list VIRTU-L Subject: INFO: CyberScape (tm) VR Authoring Software INFO: CyberScape version 2.5 is now available. New features include: Amiga AGA support, real-time clock support, and laserdisk players support. DESCRIPTION: CyberScape software is currently being used on commercial and research VR projects around the world. It is a cost-effective and non-intrusive alternative to the more expensive and cumbersome goggle/glove VR systems. CyberScape uses the "projected reality" metaphor by which the person or subject is immersed in the virtual world through real-time video input - the same metaphor used in VIDEOPLACE and VIDEODESK systems by Myron Krueger and Mandala (R) systems by the Vivid Group. CyberScape is a script-based, event-driven, multi-threaded authoring software that takes advantage of a physically based 2D animation system. For example, a complete two-team volley ball experience can be constructed with only about 100 lines of code. FEATURES: o Inputs: 2 video inputs (NTSC or PAL), PowerGlove in hi-res mode, 2 mouse inputs, 2 MIDI inputs, and 2 ARexx inputs. o Outputs: Serial device, Parallel device, MIDI output, ARexx output, and laserdisk player controls. o Collision Detections: Inter-object collisions, boundary collisions, multiple collision classes. o Object Dynamics: Velocity, acceleration, damping force, gravitational force, spring force, constrained string force, etc. o Event Triggering: Object grab and release, scene transition, timed sequence, and score keeping. o Graphics: 640x400 with overscan, 8-bit (256 colors) or HAM8 (256K colors), standard picture, brush, and animation files. o Audio: Standard sampled sound file, MIDI output, synthesized speech. o User Extensions: Linkable object library and interface source code included.
