		MESSAGE FROM NADIA MAGNENAT THALMANN
			University of Geneva
		====================================

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the eighth International
Conference on Computer Animation.

For the second year, this conference is part of a larger conference,
DigiMedia, that includes Forum 3D and a Multimedia seminar. The goal
of these several conferences held together is to offer the
participants a complete view on closely related topics: 3D images,
their animation, their integration with sound, text, and the most
important, their immediate or long-term use in the economical world.

The participants will have access to the top researchers in the world
in the Computer Animation Conference. They will debate today's
concrete applications while listening to practitioners in the 3D
Forum. They will discover, in the Multimedia Seminar, the potential
and links related to television.

And last but not the least, all the DigiMedia participants will have
access to the yearly popular Computer Animation Film Festival which is
being held every day during the conference including Saturday,
downtown in Uni-Mail.

And if you have some time left in the afternoon, do not forget to pay
a visit to the Museum in Carouge where there is an exhibition on
"Virtual Marilyn".

I wish you a warm welcome and a lot of interesting exchanges.

Nadia Magnenat Thalmann
