CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The 1st Conference on Spatial Multimedia and Virtual Reality will try
to bring together the social and physical scientists, architects,
engineers and computer specialists that are applying interactive
computer graphics technologies to spatial problems. Research projects,
prototype demonstrations and case studies should be submitted for
review.

The Conference will include, but it will not be limited to, the
following areas: spatial multimedia technologies and services;
visualization and animation of spatial data; virtual environments;
spatial information highways and spatial digital libraries.

PAPERS

Technical papers, preferably accompanied by a videotape, on completed
or in-progress research, innovative applications, or experience with
multimedia and virtual reality systems are solicited. Prototype
demonstrations or videotape presentations are required to supplement
the talks.

Awards will be given to outstanding papers. Accepted papers will be
posted on the Internet. Selected papers will be forwarded to IEEE
Multimedia, Presence, International Journal of GIS and Environment and
Planning B.

Submit five copies of a 800 word abstract no later than April 15, 1995

DEMONSTRATIONS

As part of the Conference, there will be a technical and artistic
demonstration program. Submissions should consist of a two page
description of the demonstration, demo requirements, and one VHS
video. Send submissions to:

VIDEO
 
Videotape submissions are encouraged in both VHS or Hi8 formats. They
should be 5 minutes long and should be accompanied by a 2 page
overview. Awards will be given to outstanding videos.  A videotape
with innovative spatial multimedia and virtual reality applications
will be produced, shown at the Conference and available for purchase.

PARTICIPATION OF YOUNG RESEARCHERS

Papers with a student as the primary author can enter the student
paper award competition. The European Science Foundation will provide
funds to support travelling costs for a limited number of young
researchers that are either graduate students or have finished
