New features in DIVE 2.2: * Terrain rendering - the ability to read and render elevation and terrain type files has been added. The terrain is not distributed which means that the terrain rendering is heavily optimized. * Collision support in the core system. * Solid objects - objects can be marked as solid which means that they can't pass through each other. * Awareness support - basic support for a spatial interaction model developed within the COMIC project, an Esprit III Basic Research Action. * Support for texture mapping on SGI machines. * Support for local light sources on IBM and SGI machines. * File format manual added * Timer and Random behaviour - makes it possible to specify behaviour actions in objects that are performed at specific time intervals or at random. * Text objects may be centered or aligned left/right. * 'Spheres' may be asymmetrical, i.e., have three different radiuses. * C style macros and include files can now be used in DIVE world and data files. * DIVE now compiles with 'cc' on SGI machines. This is necessary if programs are to compile and run under IRIX 5.1. More information on DIVE can be found in the file DIVE_INFO, available via anonymous ftp from sics.se:pub/dive/. DIVE is free but covered by a non commercial use license. Therefore DIVE is not directly available by anonymous ftp.
