I concur in the suggestion that newsgroups should be cited. I also
suggest that "USENET" should be appended to the newsgroup name. Those
who do not use USENET may not recognize a newsgroup for what it is.

A related question is how to cite actual virtual worlds. So far, most
worlds have contained relatively little information that is relevant
outside the world. This could change quickly, especially as DVI and
other technologies are integrated with worlds. (For example, a library
world that contains snippets about a topic.) If the world components
are an integral part of the world and do not exist as separate items,
how shall they be cited? And how shall the contextual world be cited?

comp.net.use is a newsgroup I proposed to create to handle some of these
issues, but the press of time has prevented my concentrating on the
effort. When it's ready to go again, I will notify you and solicit your
ideas for this newsgroup and support for its creation.
