Subject: Anyone written programs for the VPL DataGlove Model 2?
Organization: State University of New York at Stony Brook

I am currently involved in writing programs for the VPL DataGlove Model 2
which will perform hand posture recognition. I understand from the
documentation that I have access to that posture recognition can be
performed by the VPL 'box' itself. But I can't seem to figure out how
to upload the gesture parameters to the box or how to format such a file
of gestures. Does anyone have hints about the gesture files or controlling
the VPL box to get it recognize gestures?

The documentation also specifies that the calibration files created by
calling DG2_calibrate() are compatible across the Macintosh and UNIX
operating systems, but since the files aren't human readable I'll take this
with a grain of salt. Am I wrong about this? Is my definition of "human-
readable" too narrow?

I have access to the source code for testing the Glove with the Macintosh
(well most of it) and the files from the UNIX distribution tapes, but
I would really love to see the full source code for the Macintosh (or IBM
Gesture Editor. Does anyone have these?

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions anyone has.

James
