Subject: Need for low-end vr how-to (sub)hierarchy

The power glove mailing list is slowly turning into the "homebrew" VR
list.

This annoys myself (the maintainer of the list) and many of the users.

However, it points out the definite need for a low-end or how-to vr group of
some sort.

I personally think that powerglove (and other glove) discussion belongs
under comp.periphs, but it seems I've brused the egos of several gloveoids
by suggesting that gloves are `mere peripherals'.

The topics related to VR I can think of off the top of my head that
need to have a discussion space:

-- under periphs --
power-gloves
3d goggles

-- under ?? --
software tools for designing worlds

-- already taken care of by an existing group --
rendering techniques: comp.graphics.* for this discussion)
how-do-I-do-fast-graphics-on-platform-X: comp.sys.<platform>.graphics

Any suggestions/adds to this list?

There are currently well over 300 addresses in the power-glove list.

[MODERATOR'S NOTE: If it's real virtual worlds, we can spin off some
newsgroups. (See my earlier note appended to Dave Stampe's request.)
If what you're doing is advanced computer graphics, then that's where
the new hierarchy should begin. We need some definitions, clearly.
Mark De Loura and I will try to help by explaining the constraints on
new newsgroup formulation (as we learn them). -- Bob Jacobson]
