Organization: University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada

I am looking for a keen, energetic, intelligent, hard working (etc.)
programmer/analyst to join a team that is working on the design
and implementation of software tools to support the development of
virtual reality user interfaces. This is initially a one year
appointment, with the option to continue for two more years. Our
current design team consists of faculty and graduate students. The
programmer/analyst will work with this group to development the
requirments for VR software tools, take part in the design of these
tools and supervise their implementation. The ideal candidate will
form the back bone of the team and keep to whole project on track.

Our current laboratory configuration consists of 4 SGI workstations,
including 2 VGX's, 2 DEC 5000/200 PXG workstations, several Sun
workstations along with a head-mounted display, DataGlove, and
3D sound equipment. This group has already produced a toolkit for
developing VR applications that is currently used at several sites
and will be made generally available in the near future. The pay is
not the best, but this is an excellent opportunity to get in on
the ground floor of this new technology with an established research
group.

The ideal candidate for this job will have an MSc or BSc degree
in Computer Science with a strong background in computer graphics
and user interfaces. Experience with Silicon Graphics or DEC workstations
would be a plus.
