The intriguing discussion regarding "naming our practice," now
taking place on sci.virtual-worlds, prompted me to find out how
often one of our central terms -- >virtual< -- has been used in
trademarks. Here's what I found out...

Following is a list of trademarks, each of which uses
"virtual" in one way or another. This list was supplied to
sci.virtual-worlds by Dr. Fred Zappert, vice president for
research and development at Dialog Information Services, Inc.
Thanks to Fred for making this list available.

Information about Dialog is available at (415) 838-2700 or
(415) 858-7069 fax. This information was obtained from Dialog
File 226, Trademarkscan (Copyright Thomson & Thomson, 1991).
Reproduced by permission. May not be redistributed or
reproduced without permission.

The order of the information is: trademark, status of the
trademark, items covered, date of filing, date of first use (if
available), and name of the original owner. (There is one
additional application, for "VIRTUALITY," filed by W Industries,
Ltd.; the record was not among those supplied to me.)
