	Hello!

I've just returned from Tokyo and the Nikkei International
Symposium on Artificial Reality and Tele-Existence. A very
congenial and informative gathering, well attended by Japanese
industry, although there were no large surprises. (W Industries
Virtuality system was impressive, as was the new HRX Eyephones by
VPL -- a 100% improvement over the older model.) Our Japanese
colleagues are doing good work but, like the rest of us, they could
use a bit more support. (So, what's new?) A full report will follow
as my jetlag subsides.

In the meantime, in the spirit of the symposium, please allow
me to share the following koan with you:

A Master and student were walking down a dusty,
virtual road, in search of Enlightenment.

Eventually they came to a fork in the road, for which
	there were no signposts.

The student turned to the teacher and asked, "Master,
which way shall we proceed, to find Enlightenment?"

To which the Master, in reply, merely smiled, reached
	down, and pulled the plug.

Hope all has been well here. Thanks again to Mark De Loura for
masterful moderating in my absence.
