As far as gaze or eye-tracking goes, I would suggest that you look at work
done by Richard A. Bolt at the Media Lab and Robert Jacob at the Naval Research
Laboratory. Both Bolt and Jacob had papers in the 1990 SIGCHI proceedings
regarding eye tracking. India Starker while at the Media Lab wrote an
excellent M.S. thesis on a self disclosing system that used gaze information.
She co-authored the above-mentioned paper with Bolt. Another good resource
is Bolt's book entitled "The Human Interface: where people and computers meet."
Finally, I wrote a technical report for the HIT Lab this summer on the subject
which can be ordered from the lab under the title "Gaze in the Human
Interface." It would probably be a helpful resource.
