I believe that the Odin project of Jack Thorpe was a SIMNET node
put into a "HUMVEE". The project manager for that last minute
effort was CDR Dennis McBride of DARPA. Much of his office's
money went into this project. Clearly as more simulation
is used by DoD, some of that technology will then flow
to the battlefield, i.e. why do we expect soldiers to be
happy with 286/386 machines when the ones they trained
on were 3D capable.

VR technology that will be applied after the war: Some
of the battles during the liberation of Kuwait were
instrumented and that data will be played back using
VR technology. I believe the historian of the US Army
is involved in this. He has expressed an additional
interest in replaying Civil War engagements.

Good guys/bad guys: I believe that the term is much
nicer say than some of the things people used to say
circa 1970. In terms of the liberation of Kuwait,
it was quite appropriate.
