How does the Toshiba HSP stack up? My impression from reading
the chip literature was that it could do 20k gouraud-shade triangles
per second, whatever that means this week. It appeared to be
a mini-SGI pipeline on a chip for less than $150 US in quantity.
DiVision uses 2 of these and an 860 on the PC-based VR system
they showed at SIGGRAPH last summer in Electronic Realities.

Toshiba Semi marketing here in Silicon Valley disclaimed
almost all knowledge of the chip, claiming that the customers
who use it send their engineers to Toshiba U. in Japan.
(In sales this is called a brush-off.)
