Dear Bob Jacobson,

I'm chairing a VR conference in New York City; I posted a notice to sci.
virtual-worlds more than a week ago but still haven't seen the notice listed;
the pre-registration discount rate doesn't last much longer, so I thought I'd
send another copy directly to you so that it could be posted ASAP. Thanks!

Thanks- Rory Stuart

=====================================================================

I would like to let people know about "Virtual Reality:
New Directions in Human-Computer Interaction," a conference
I am chairing in New York City February 4-5 in conjunction
with Speech Tech. Speech Tech is the world's longest-running
speech technology conference, and one session of the VR
conference will focus on the use of 3d audio and speech
recognition and synthesis in VR. There will also be
presentations on current VR applications, R&D perspectives,
integrating component technologies (e.g. motion-tracking,
eye-tracking, and force feedback), and the shape of things
to come.

The conference organization informs me that speakers who
are already scheduled to give presentations include Myron
Krueger, Margaret Minsky, Scott Foster, Tom Piantanida,
Wendy Kellogg, John Thomas, Richard Dunn-Roberts, Sandra
Kay Helsel, Dave Russo, William Buxton, Bo Gehring, Hugh L.
Applewhite, James King, Rikki Razdan, and Beth Wensel. So
I anticipate a very high quality conference.

I will also be giving a tutorial on Virtual Reality on
February 3rd.

For more information on the conference and/or tutorial,
please contact: Jackie Roth/Media Dimensions/42 East 23rd St./
New York, NY 10010; phone: (212)-533-7481; fax: (212)-475-1209.

Please let those those colleagues of yours who are interested
in VR know about this conference as well. Thanks- Rory Stuart
