For more information about critiques of technology, edited by a
technology enthusiast, check out the current (Winter) issue of Whole
Earth Review. It says "Questioning Technology" on the cover, and has
articles by Jerry Mander, Langdon Winner, Ivan Illich, Peter

[MODERATOR'S NOTE: The shameless posting of these advertisements in
sci.virtual-worlds does not necessarily.... :-) Thanks, Howard.

Also, the Society for Philosophy and Technology, headquartered at
the U of South Carolina (I do believe), has put out a remarkable
collection of papers from its last conference, DISCOVERY OF
TECHNOLOGY AND TECHNOLOGIES OF DISCOVERY. Comes for free with
a $10/year membership. A bargain and a wonder. -- Bob Jacobson]
