Subject: TECH: U of I powerglove supplemental update 6-30-92

Now that I have had time to collect my thoughts, here is some more goodies
available on the PGSA II:

The 8 bits of output may be hard to hook up to since there is very little room
on the board. The pins are still there, you just have do look harder to find
them.

The same hardware will be used for one and two glove units. Just the software
changes. If you want two gloves, go ahead and buy the one glove unit and then
get the software upgrade when it is available.

Updates can be installed by the user. They will be made available to all
registered users of the PGSA II through Internet or other wise, and disks
could be mailed out for the cost of the disk mailing. I do not anticipate but
one update: two glove support. However, I have been known to let bugs crep
into my code on occasion, so don't rule out the possibility.

I have a list of buyers as of toady. It will follow. If you are not on the
list, please email me. If you want off the list, ditto. If you wish to change
the number you want, ditto. If you wish to change the type, don't do anything.
All I need now is a count of units. I can break it down later. Some have
a "(maybe)" after them since I was not sure. Please clarify if you can. I
would appreciate this posting getting to CIS and others to let other users know
about the list.

Each box will have a serial number imbedded in the software. I should have
two glove support debugged by the weekend, but don't hold your breath.

I can guarantee 27+ frames a second. I am trying for 30, but who knows. Email
if that is too slow.

There is a possibility of me buying power adapters and selling them to users
who do not have any spares. Email if you like the idea and what you would pay
for a power supply.

We have demos for IBM, but are looking at other platforms.

I am trying to build a MAC interface so that we can guarntee MAC support. All
you need is an rs232 converter, but I have not had time to build one. I need
someone to mail me a program that will read data from the mouse port for a MAC.

Does anyone know of the best way to package this thing? I want it cost
effective, but not ugly. Email with suggestions.

The order form will go out next Monday when the boards are done. I will
post it here. (unless that is against the rules) You can email it to me.

There will be no provisions for hooking up the A/D ports or the input lines
except solder holes in the board. you need to be adept at soldering, or ask
us to do it when we sel it to you. We can work something out.

SIGARCH would like a copy of all PD software released for this unit, as well
as shareware. I personally would like beta releases of commercial prgs, but
I believe I may be overstepping my bounds. Hey, had to ask!

This box will NOT do the kitchen cleaning. I realize that some of you may
think there is too much on this thing, but it is full featured and the extras
came at no cost.

Here's the list. Check for your name:
