I'm trying to get Jerry Isdale, the project leader of our software group,
to jump in here and start participating. (I understand that he's already
been talking to Bernie a bit by email) One of the major points of
discussion in the CompuServe group is the subject of standards for "world"
data. It's obviously to everyone's benefit, at whatever level, to have
some common link to work with; this is true from the top strata using high
end workstations down to the level of "PC VR". For those working on more
modest methods and systems, like the CIS group, or Dave and Bernie's
REND386, there is a nice sense of stability in the idea of common
standards, and for those working at higher levels the same is true, I'm
sure.

BTW, something to bear in mind, for all of you who are working with the
"Big Iron", so to speak, is to not forget us "little guys" with PC's and
such. :-) Keep the "low end" in mind, because after all, if you really
want to see networked VR, and generally widespread acceptance of VR, you
don't want to make the minimal hardware level a Silicon Graphics Crimson
or something.
