You might want to talk with some of the folks at Coryphaeus Software in
Los Gatos CA. (408) 395-4537 (Tom Marlow or Jordan Green) They have
extensive experience building high-end driving simulators based on Silicon
Graphics Computers. Oddly enough they call them "Mid-Range" simulators.
They built several large scale sims for the Austrailan Gov't (one is
actually mobile), one small sim for ITT Automotive and are currently
delivering a unit to the University of Mass. I've driven one of their
simulators when it was touring the US last year and they were extremely
high fidelity. I used to work at Link Flight Simulation
(Singer/CAE/Hughes) , so I feel I can throw out my opinion regarding real
"High-Fidelity" trainers.

they are more known for their COTS visual simulation tools for building
simulations on SGI computers. I think they are located on the SGI web
server and have a new web server at http:www.coryphaeus.com/
