This isn't going to solve your problem, but as its free I guessed you
might be interested.

Have a look at the page 
	http://dream1.leeds.ac.uk/~richard/
for a 4 dof handtracker that uses computer vision (no hardware). Works on sgi
indy and allows interaction with Inventor applications (x,y,z,r + 5
recognisable gestures).
