Could you say a little more about each of these books?

What are the strong points of each?

[Well, perhaps John (infoman007@aol.com), perhaps can elaborate on
his recommendations. Below is a short IMHO:

City of Bits has a great WWW page:
http://www-mitpress.mit.edu/City_of_Bits/index.html

Virtual Reality by Howard Rheingold is old (my copy has a copyright
of 1991, for current VR tech info...that's a tad dated). However, it
has basic information about VR's and it's pioneers the book is classic.

For a tiny review and a picture of the cover see--

Life on the Screen by Sherry Turkle

I didn't find a listing for "Life on the Screen" in the database
"Books in Print", but I did find a 1995 book by Sherry Turkle called:

Beyond Dreams and Beasts: Computers and the Culture of Simulation
