I think that in France GRM (Groupe de recherches musicales) and IRCAM
have researchers working on these kinds of instruments.  Unfortunately
I dont remember the coordonates of GRM but you can contact IRCAM at
http://www.ircam.fr/



If my memory doesn't fail me, the family name of the GRM researcher
whose work I've seen in concert is DeLaubier.  IRCAM (I think) made a
virtual acoustic world which reproduces the acoustic parameters of
several famous concert halls, and also some soft for a virtual pianist
(if not IRCAM it must be GRM for this one) who plays in duo with a
human one.
