OI provides means of customizing the objects, possibly by adding some
new properties such as those you are looking for. You should get your
hand on the OI Mentor (User manual) and the Toolmaker (To develop your
one stuffs). Also is the newsgroup dedicated to OI:
news:comp.graphics.api.inventor

But If you are only looking to add these properties, and if nothing
fundamentally changes in the objects' behaviour (rendering, picking,
it might not even be necessary to develop your own objects.)
