To Sean Michael...some exciting work is being done around the U.S. to
treat phobias through VR applications; I wrote a column about that
topic for C-Net Online, a Web pub affiliated with the cable TV show on
technology, C-Net Central. Point your browser to http://www.cnet.com
and look in the "Columns Vault" for the column, "What Are We Afraid
Of"? The column mentions groundbreaking work done here in northern
California to treat fear of heights; the psychologist responsible is
Dr. Ralph Lamson.  Meanwhile, researchers at Emory U. and Georgia Tech
in Atlanta are working on ways to use VR to treat fear of flying. I
haven't heard about apps specific to treating agoraphobics, but the
world surely could use something like that.
