  I own a pair of Virtual I/Os that I purchased at the MecklerMedia
show this past summer.  They are nice for games and there are some 
development software packages out there that do support it.

  As for the serial port interface, that is quite common.  Ascension
and Polhemus (sp?) both plug into a serial port.  EISA, ISA, VLB, or
PCI would limit the product to one platform and not a multitude.
