I recall stopping at a WebSite that covered VR/3D software for linux, called 
GeomView, with VRML extensions. The URL is:

Perhaps this is what you're looking for. Here is an abstract from the page:

 "Geomview is an interactive program, written by staff members of the 
 Geometry Center, for viewing and manipulating geometric objects. It can
