Well, sorry for the nitpick, but it is made by Nintendo. Anyway, the
Virtual Boy is OK as VR goes, but somewhat great for game systems on
the Gameboy level. The display is red and black, but I'm not sure how
many red-scales there are (how many different brightness levels/shades
of red). The viewer is not a real HMD, as it comes with a short
tripod to mount it on... NOT head mountable. If I recall correctly,
it's a 32-bit RISC processor (?).
In all, I think that they can do quite a lot with it, despite it's
limitations. Unfortunately, their initial release of games looks
rather pathetic, and after spending $170-$180 on this thing, the only
game they give you is a worthless tennis game. It's nice to give you
a feel for the 3-D effect, but I got tired of it after about 10-15
minutes. The other games I've seen for it, so far, don't look much
better. Don't give up hope though, as I'm sure that there will be
some companies out there who will really tap into the full potential
of the system.
By the way, if you're thinking "RED & black! ugh!"... give it a try
first. By the time you've mastered Mario Tennis (about 15 minutes),
you'll probably have found that you rather like it. I adjusted to it
pretty quickly.

And if anyone from Nintendo is reading this...
GET RID OF THE DAMN TENNIS GAME!
Sorry, but I sell the things, and haven't yet heard a positive remark about
including that in the system.
