From besmith@uncc.edu (Brian E Smith)

I've been thinking about creating a multi-player rendered game. First,
I'm wondering how games like Doom can build a reliable protocol on top of
Netware IPX, since I've looked at that and it seems not too reliable.
Also, and this is where the VR group comes in, I'm wondering if REND286
can be tweaked enough or if any is needed at all to make it work with the
DOS extender Id Software uses for it's games, if it's even available to
hobby developers like me, since the 640k limit currently experienced by
REND386 is putting a serious crunch on what I can do as far as the game
world itself. For instance, I would like to throw in some nifty power-up
objects in the world but currently I'm not sure if that'll be pushing the
memory or not.

Please send all replys via email. No flames please. Thanks in advance :)
