This may be true or wrong depending on what you mean by
"resolution". The raw resolution of the image generators inside the
HMDs in the 1000$ range is indeed quite the same. But the resolution
you are really interested in is the one you can perceive with your
eyes. This resolution is called the angular resolution. It depends
much on the optics used as well as the LCD image generator raw
resolution. None of the HMDs on the market have the same angular
resolution even if the all use the 180000 pixels LCDs. Take a look at
my web site under "HMD analysis" for more details. Bottom line is:
HMDs that uses the same LCDs don't look all as good as the others. Be
careful about that fact.
