VIRTUAL i-O LAUNCHES FIRST NEAR-HDTV RESOLUTION VIDEO AND PC HEAD-MOUNTED
DISPLAY HEADSET

NEW ORLEANS -- Virtual i-O has once again broken the barriers of
available virtual reality products by launching the new Virtual
i-glasses! Professional product, the ultimate high-end PC and video
display with high resolution optics and ergonomic lightweight design.

Featuring near high-density television resolution, the Virtual
i-glasses! Professional offers twice if not more lines per screen than
conventional television monitors. At a resolution of 1050 vertical
lines, it brings to the United States a resolution only recently
available, even on monitors or traditional flat panel displays in
Japan.

Available with either a 16x9 or 4x3 aspect ratio, the Virtual
i-glasses! Professional has both a PC and video interface and a
50-degree field of view, nearly twice the 30-degree field of view
offered in Virtual i-O's consumer PC and video products. The
i-glasses! also feature digit al video processing, including
proprietary line doubling and detail/edge enhancement circuitry.

The professional product is an incredible breakthrough in display
technology for producers of high-end 2-D and 3-D productions, and for
those researchers and developers creating computerized worlds, 3-D
graphics, or augmented reality applications, said Virtual i-O
President Linden Rhoads.
In addition to creating consumer-based products, Virtual i-O is
committed to bringing the highest technology available to research and
educational institutions.

Priced at $40,000-$50,000, the Virtual i-glasses! Professional
displays 3-D from both dual input and field sequential
programming. Each pair of glasses is customized to order, and delivery
is usually under one month. Orders can be placed at the Siggraph
show, or directly with Virtual i-O by calling their Seattle office at
1-800-646-3759. Those orders placed at the show will receive a special
bonus of five Virtual i-glasses! consumer version products.

Virtual i-O is based in Seattle, WA and employs more than 150
people. The company was founded in May 1993 by Greg Amadon and Linden
Rhoads and is supported by private investors including
Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI), Logitech International, Thomson-CSF,
and Planar Systems, Inc.
