Virtual reality business applications on video

A new video shows details of eight real-life business applications of
virtual reality. Called Virtual Reality: Current business
applications the video has been produced by Look Multimedia for Ovum.

The eight examples include the use of VR for car and engine design by
Volkswagen, a virtual walk around the inside, outside and underside of
a new water pumping station for Thames Water, and Mott MacDonald's VR
model of a London suburb to help in planning a tramway system.

There is material from a VR programme produced by Nortel for telephone
training and maintenance. Marketing examples range from Airbus
modelling a future plane to Electrolux providing an aid for kitchen
planning, and Matsushita's virtual ideal home. An ambitious
application from Computer Associates provides a VR interface to its
global system management and maintenance tool

The video provides the visual counterpart of eight of the user
profiles in Ovum's new report Virtual Reality: Business Applications,
Markets and Opportunities. The report is the first international
study to focus on business applications for virtual reality. It looks
at the opportunities for businesses implementing VR technology, and
for suppliers of VR-related services.

The video will be provided free of charge to customers of the report,
and it is also available on its own. "We believe it should be a
useful reference for anybody who's selling, developing or using VR
tools and applications," says Tim Johnson, Managing Director of Look
Multimedia. "Video is currently the only way of seeing multiple
platform VR applications in the same place at the same time, so it
makes sense to bring the applications together on video."

The video costs 66 pounds in Europe, AS$129 in Australia and US$99 in the rest
of the world. For further details contact Oliver Johnson, Look
