I am a industrial design student, my thesis/major project is aimed at
designing, near future, console (sony playstation/nintendo) style VR
equipment.

I have been surveying the current products on the low-end VR market
(Forte's VFX-1, virtual I-O i glasses etc.) scanning newsgroups for
future directions , but i have come to obstacle, how do i eventually
create a computer model of my design if i have dimensions of physical
sizes of components or indeed of the layout/configuration of the
components.

Obviously companies aren't going to give specs to me, does anyone have
any suggestions as to what i could do to obtain even some general
dimensions of components/configurations? magazine articles/www/
preferably without buying one of the current systems :) any help would
be HUGEly appreciated. thankyou. :)

thankyou.

my thesis can be found at

in it's ever expanding state.
comments greatly appreciated.
