Announcement: VRML97 DEMO SIG hosted by VeRGe

The Virtual Reality Education Foundation (Affectionately known as
VeRGe— http://www.verge.org ) is pleased to announce that on
Monday, February 24, 1997 between 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Hyatt Hotel
Ballroom, VeRGe has the distinct honor of corralling the best of the
best VRML demos the world has to offer together exclusively for
attendees of the original VRML conference, VRML 97 (
http://www.sdsc.edu/vrml97/ )

VRML 97, The Second Annual Virtual Reality Modeling Language Symposium
is going to be held February 24-26, 1997 at the Hyatt Regency,
Monterey California, USA. VRML 97 will be a 3-day technical forum
including courses and in-depth workshop discussions on the first day,
followed by paper presentations, panels, exhibits, and demonstrations
on the following two days.

This event is guaranteed to demonstrate ground breaking applications
from the world's premier VRML companies and developers at a breakneck
pace. Attending this event is the best way to get an accurate
snapshot of where the state of the art in VRML technology is, and
where it's heading. So come to Monterey and be amazed.

Seeing that the available demo slots will completely fill up, there
will be a selection process in which the best demos will be selected
for your oohs and aahs. A special review panel of VRML 97 Symposium
Committee members will select the winning entries. ***All entry's
must be submitted by no later than Monday, February 10 and must
include an one paragraph summary (URLs welcomed) of proposed demo.***

Surf on over to http://www.verge.org/projects/vrml97/signup.html to
submit your entry.

All winning summaries and URLs will be advertised on the VRML 97 DEMO
SIG page one week prior to the event. Those seeking to keep all or
part of their demo entry comments private (e.g. proprietary
information not for general distribution), please clearly indicate
within your summary what is for general distribution and what is not.

Since we have only two hours to present all this madness, we will be
allocating 5 minutes for each demo. Don Brutzman has offered to "have
the U.S. Marines standing by" to enforce the time limit. But luckily,
we have our own devious methods to ensure no demo "run-overs."
Besides, we want to a timely end to the so we can enjoy the wonderful
sponsored dinner immediately following the event.

A special tip of the avatar's hat to VRML 97 Chair, Don Brutzman, for
all the great feedback and fantastic leadership putting this all
together.

Please note there will be a DEMO SIG rehearsal one hour before the event
a 4 PM.

For further information and/or questions, contact the event's Monster of
Ceremonies, Timothy Childs (timothy@verge.org).
