Hello VR people.

I post this message in hopes that I can hook up with others who are
using linux as a VR development platform for the PC. Linux is a far
more powerful 32bit OS for the PC than DOS or WINDOZE. For those of
you who have not heard of it, it is a public domain Unix OS for the PC
and it aims at POSIX compliance.

There are two things in particular I am interested in hooking up w/
others about.

1) Anyone who is working with the Polhemus Isotrack 16bit SEB in linux.
2) Anyone who is working with the 5DT 5thGlove95 in linux.

My research group here at the University of Colorado at Boulder is
working on software that allows multiple users across a network to
share a virtual world and the objects within it, to interactively and
cooperatively change the state of the objects, and to represent these
changes to the participants at each client logged into the world in a
timely manner. Most of the work is done in IRIX and HPUX, but so far
I have been able to port everything to Linux as well using
Mesa(OpenGL).

My task for the coming months is to develop the software to talk to
the glove and tracker described above. It would be great if there are
any other linux/VR developers out there who want to begin a dialog,
and would be really great if there are any linux/VR developers working
with the 5DT 5thGlove95 or the Polhemus Isotrack that would be kind
enough to contact me.

Thank you, and happy head tracking!
